Premesse a Kore

Directed by: Maristella MartellaWe’re distorted bodies with a strong need to find ourselves again.
We need new images and new visions. In this syncretism of a constant loss and an arduous research, we use the myth in order to recognize the reality in which we live, we use symbols to track its map and archetypes as a mirror, to understand ourselves.
The research on the wonder and the extraordinary madness of dances coming from the popular tradition is a journey into the centre of the earth, into the centre of our souls.
In order to interpret the fury and the sensuality of these ancient dances, we need to do the transposition and transfiguration of traditional codes by evoking the ritual from the most carnal perspective, the dance. We start with the dance coming from the popular tradition not to prove its existence but to create new syncretism, new crossroads between the traditional repertory and new contemporary visions. We constantly need to analyse the mystery of Tarantism and trance, to interpret it by experimenting with different, even random crossroads of apparently distant elements.
The only prop is a big white veil, a tribute to rebel Berber women from Tafraoute (Morocco).
The veil is an expression of the rebellion, it is a border between the known and unknown, between what we can touch and what we can only imagine. The bodies of 5 dancers blend in a harmonious, sensual and oneiric way, through various musical moods, some of them rarefied, other anthropologically marked, that bring to the extreme consequences of dance.
